Yellowstone River Montana Agate
Collected by Jim Woodward, a friend of Rebel Rockhounding, this stunning Montana Agate was collected along the legendary Yellowstone River in Big Sky Country. Each river-worn piece is chalcedony-rich and semi-translucent, featuring natural mossy and dendritic patterns from iron and manganese oxides that create breathtaking “picture agate” landscapes that make Montana Agate one of the Pacific Northwest’s most iconic stones, full of wild Montana spirit—no two are ever the same.
This hard, high-quality agate takes a mirror polish and is perfect for cabbing, slicing, or keeping as a classic Yellowstone rockhounding specimen from one of Montana’s most famous agate-bearing rivers.
PRICE: Price is per pound.
DISCLAIMER: These are raw, uncut stones—just waiting to be turned into beautiful cabochons, carvings, or display pieces. The photos show what these rocks can look like once they’ve been cut and or polished, for reference. We personally handpick our rough to bring you the best quality material we can find, and every piece is different once it’s opened up—that’s part of the fun! If you’re not happy with what you get, no worries—you can send it back for a refund as long as the rough hasn’t been cut.
